Town Place
Town Place in Sussex is a lovely garden of many facets. This set was originally shot for Country Life with other images used later by The English Garden.
Fulham Palace
This is part of a set that was shot for Fulham Palace over the period of a year and now forms the backbone of their image library. The Palace and site date back to the tenth century and used to be the country home of the Bishops of London. The grounds extend to about 15 acres and include a walled garden within which a broad spectrum of flowers and vegetables are grown.
Ramster
Ramster in Chiddingfold is a woodland garden of some 15 acres, in which grow a large number of rhododendron species. This set forms part of a group of images that have appeared in a number of magazines including The English Garden and Landscape.
Luton Hoo Walled Garden
This set was shot for The English Garden and themed specifically on Luton Hoo's unique collection of Mackenzie & Moncur glasshouses that were erected early last century. Capability Brown originally designed the walled garden to allow light to fall across it at the solstice and equinox.
The Charterhouse
The Charterhouse was originally founded as a Carthusian monastery in 1371 and since the 17th century has been an almshouse that still welcomes 40 "brothers" today. The current gardens were developed by Claire Davies, head gardener between 2009 and 2018.
The Beeches
The Beeches in Barcombe, Sussex is a walled garden of some age, which has been brought back into use by the current owners. These images were shot with an autumnal theme for The English Garden.
